Supervisor Districts 2 & 4

As you would expect… money talks and neighborhood representation and independent governance were buried under an avalanche of conservative tech spending.

(Interestingly for District 4, although the Great Highway was at the top of the agenda for the majority of District 4 voters, the incumbent Supervisor has been unable to deliver for the constituents for who this has mattered the most. This includes reinstating a compromise model for the Sunset Dunes park, or increasing transit alternatives and pedestrian safety infrastructure where congestion and vehicle reroutes have been most problematic. No matter where you land on this issue, it is interesting to note that voters appear to have voted against their own stated interest, in favor of someone who arguably has been a reliable mouthpiece for the Mayor but who hasn’t delivered anything for the district.)

A rank-choice strategy did not withstand the Mayor’s endorsement of his chosen candidate. Although, Natalie Gee did get more #1 votes along the progressive Sunset Surfer Strip, and Alan Wong’s margin was slightly less high in the more progressive precincts.
